Hi, I'm Megan...
Holistic Baby & Child Sleep Consultant
I'm Megan, mum to two little bears, Alfie and Teddy, and step mum to twins, Kai and Neve.
I'm a Mama Bear first and foremost, that's my most important role. And I'm also a certified Baby & Child Sleep Consultant, a role that enables me to support families in achieving the sleep they so desperately need and deserve.

I've been where you are. Feeding my baby hourly throughout the night; pacing the room rocking, shushing, cuddling, only to place my baby down asleep, sink back into my bed and have them wake moments later. So sleep deprived that I've felt anxious, stressed, worried I'm failing as a mother.

There's a belief that good sleep goes out the window when you have a baby, and that you should accept that as a rite of passage. I'm here to tell you that good sleep isn't just nice to have. It's essential, and it's achievable, for you and your child.

Teddy

The inspiration behind Little Bears Sleep
Meet Alfie, my wonderful, hilarious, dinosaur-loving whirlwind of destruction and the one that made me a Mama. When he arrived, he instantly became our little 'Alfie-bear' and that nickname has stuck ever since.

Fast-forward two years and along came Teddy. Equally wonderful, unbelievably chilled out and the happiest of little souls. He, of course, is our little 'Teddy-bear'.

Alfie and Teddy made our family a six, joining my two step-children, twins Kai and Neve.

Between the four of them, their sleep stories couldn't be more different - they're the inspiration behind Little Bears Sleep.

Our Sleep Story
I've always loved to sleep. I know everyone says that, but I really love to sleep! I've always prided myself on my ability to sleep any time, any place. So it was a bit of a shock to my system when my step kids first came into my life. Twins, Kai and Neve.
Neve is a dream sleeper. Aside from the occasional episode of sleep walking when she was younger (which on the dark landing at night felt a lot like an encounter with the girl from The Ring as she climbs from the well and through the television screen), she's always slept beautifully and honestly, you'd forget she was in the house. Kai, on the other hand, has always struggled with his sleep. Kai has ASD and ADHD, and for a while now has taken medication to help with his sleep. If I think back to when he was younger, it wasn't uncommon for him to come into us 20+ times a night for support. It would take him a long time to fall asleep, and even then he was easily woken and struggled to get back off. Early rising was a biggie - we'd often start our weekends with a Disney film at 4:30am.

Fast-forward several years and along came Alfie. For the first six-months of his life, we were lucky to get a 45-minute stretch of sleep before the next wake. At six months old, I decided enough was enough - we all needed some sleep. I started reading up on all things baby and child sleep, determined to help us all sleep better. We made some conscious changes to his routine and used some gentle methods to help him feel comfortable in his cot and able to settle independently. In just a couple of weeks he was sleeping a lovely 11-12 hour stretch and we were feeling refreshed. I'd often be the one waking him in the morning, rather than the other way around.

And then came Teddy. From the very beginning, this boy loved to sleep. Don't get me wrong, he's had his moments along the way, but heck, he's a baby... it's expected, right? This time around I've been able to work on any issues early on, helping Teddy, and the rest of the family, get the rest we all need.

All four of them have very different sleep stories, but they've each influenced me in a different way, motivating me to pursue baby and child sleep further and help families experiencing similar situations.
